(ooc: December 15. Open only to Hiccup, Alvin the Treacherous, Astrid, and Toothless.)
If any place succeeded in giving Hiccup the creeps more than the dragon cave did, it was the slums. There was just something sinister about them that he didn't like. Yet, there he was on his way back to the agency. Why was Hiccup in the slums at all? What was the reason for needing to go to all this trouble? A package. A single, solitary package that Naveen had asked him to retrieve. Why he had to go all the way to the slums to meet up with someone just to retrieve something for their boss was uncertain, and what that something was was even more uncertain, but the task had been accomplished. Hiccup had the package in question tucked under his arm and a less than pleased expression on his face. For all the trouble, the package sure was small. Hiccup could only wonder if all of the trouble had been worth it.
Hiccup rounded a corner and began to make his way through a murkier section of the slums. He had no idea if he was getting any closer to his destination. In retrospect, he realized it probably would have been easier to take the subway back. However, it was too late to go back. He was already halfway through the slums and there was no going back as far as he was concerned. Hiccup would just have to deal with the creepiness for a while longer.
You're fine, Hiccup. You're fine. Assassins won't bother you if they think you're just an errand boy. You're on your own. That's even less of a reason for assassins to gang up on you... right?
Hiccup didn't know. He'd never met an assassin before. For all Hiccup knew they could have been brutal. They could have attacked innocent agents for no reason what so ever. Hiccup could have been in serious trouble right at that very moment in time. With those horrid thoughts filling his head, Hiccup picked up his pace just a bit and kept walking with his emerald gaze focused dead ahead. It was only when Hiccup reached what appeared to be a fairly safe alleyway that he stopped to gain his bearings again. Hiccup did feel just a tad bit lost. Surely he should have been back at the agency by that point.
Hiccup froze after a moment. He could have sworn that he heard something walking in his general direction. Putting on his bravest face and making it so that the package was hidden under his furry vest, Hiccup waited to see what, or who, would appear. He wasn't afraid. No way was Hiccup afraid. He was just... trembling with anticipation! Yeah, that was it.
Little did he know that there was indeed someone else in the alley. Hidden behind a rather large pile of cardboard boxes and other discarded trash, Alvin lay in wait. He had noticed Hiccup on his own in the slums and upon seeing the opportunity to exact revenge he decided to follow the boy from a safe distance up until a certain point. He happened to find the alley before Hiccup and after he had broken away from following the young redhead. So there he stood safely hidden from view and lying in wait, ready to strike Hiccup as soon as he found out who else might be joining him in the alley.

It's only a package. Just a package, nothing important, probably only Naveen's mail. It's not secret pans, it can't be, why would anyone give clumsy little Hiccup high security plans? No, it was just a small errand, just a small errand. No one would send Hiccup on a mission with high risks. Than again, no one would expect the scrawny boy to hold something like plans for new technology... Astrid shook her head, it was wrong, and probably extremely stupid. She'd only stopped in the middle of the slums because she'd been reasoning that Hiccup couldn't have gotten into much trouble. Yeah, pretty pathetic right? She'd followed him all the way from the agency, and she was pacing behind a building, waiting. Footsteps. Hiccup walked by, and he had no chance in getting far, for Astrid had stopped herself from creating a rut in the ground and was now approaching the boy. Was he trembling? This wasn't a good idea! How could Naveen send the scrawny viking through the slums? THE SLUMS??
And angry, relieved Astrid paced forward, double edged axe held over her shoulder. A small package was tucked under Hiccup's arm. Naveen had sent her boyfriend to the slums, where ANTHING could be lurking. For that. Relief gave way to brief anger and irritation. She came up behind him, her footsteps sounding on the street. Ugh, she'd never get used to this place. So different from Berk. The roads were so odd, not the dirt or the green her silent shoes were used to. The echoing streets always gave way to her booted feet. Maybe she was just paranoid. No. She was paranoid. The hair on the back of her neck was on end. She hadn't seen Alvin, she'd been to focused on finding Hiccup safely. She hadn't even thought of the trouble she might possibly get into intruding on Hiccup's personal mission. She didn't even realize that there was a possibility Hiccup would be angry with her.
She cleared her throat, axe in hand- it would be something very scary to see her without it. She gave out a small sigh and shook her head. It was just like Hiccup to forget the 'subway'. Yet another reason she'd been waiting in the slums. "You couldn't have possibly taken the subway now could you? " She was just beginning a rant, whether her presence scared the living hell out of the boy because he'd expected an assassin, or because it was Astrid- not an assassin. "Noo you had to go back through the slums. HAD to." Her icy eyes narrowed dangerously, as she stepped closer to Hiccup. It was actually a rather nice act on Astrid's part. She'd been worried about this mission, especially after hearing it was in the slums. A hellish place, worse than the dragon cave Toothless had taken them too where the monstrous dragon had eaten a gronckle.
Astrid shook her head already exasperated, blue eyes narrowed, yet relieved. If eyes really were windows to the soul, Astrid's would seriously knock someone off their feet, as the blue irises only intensified every emotion brought into their perspective. "Dear gods Hiccup, your absentminded-ness is going to get you into some serious trouble one day. Your by yourself, in the slums!"
There were a few things wrong with Astrid's statement. One: Hiccup wasn't alone, Astrid was there, as well as another presence, watching them. And two: That one day, well it was going to be today.

Had Hiccup not been paying attention, he probably would have jumped at least three feet in the air when Astrid started her rant. As it was, he had been caught off guard by the fact that it was his girlfriend and not the assassin he had been expecting. While his eyes showed relief, he was no less startled by her sudden appearance. Relief turned to exasperation when she got on the point that he could have just as easily taken the subways. He had forgotten about them again. In all honesty, Astrid did have a point. It would have saved Hiccup so much trouble if he had just taken the subway instead of going through the disturbing slums. But there he was, listening to a rant from someone that cared about and wondering just why Naveen had sent him to retrieve the gods only knew what from someone that Naveen apparently knew.
"You know what? You're right. I should have taken the subway, it would have been much easier." Hiccup began, his tone remaining fairly calm despite the fact that he wanted to start up a rant of his own. He had involuntarily taken a couple of steps back as Astrid had ranted, and he was unknowingly close to where Alvin was lurking and watching the conversation. "But, gee, you know what? I don't have a clue where it even is! I looked all over these stupid slums for ages looking for the subway, and all it got me was even more lost! Now here I am, wondering why in the name of the gods Naveen sent me to retrieve... retrieve this of all things and completely clueless on how to get back to the agency!" Hiccup threw his hands up in the air in an exasperated manner as he finished, only to drop them to his sides and sigh after a moment.
"Things can't get any worse, can they?"
As if in answer to Hiccup's question, something touched Hiccup's shoulder. Something sharp. Pointed. Not a sword, but the feeling of having a point to his shoulder wasn't a good one. Hiccup's eyes went half closed as a sort of 'Why me?' look crossed his face and he just stared ahead at Astrid. It got worse. "There's someone behind me, isn't there?"
Indeed there was. Alvin had taken the opportunity while Hiccup had been ranting to sneak out into the open. He couldn't take much more of the waiting. He wanted to make his presence known to Hiccup and Astrid. What made him absolutely giddy was the fact that Hiccup's dragon companion didn't seem to be present. That was one less bothersome thing to worry about. As Alvin stood there, resting his hook against Hiccup's shoulder, he just smiled menacingly. The two rookie agents had picked the wrong day to be so far from headquarters. What he said next would give Hiccup chills that would seem near impossible to rid himself of.
"Hello... Hiccup. It's been a while, hasn't it?"

Astrid new they were jinxed. The second Hiccup opened his mouth after his own rant, and just when words bubbled to her mouth to yell at him some more. The relief vanished as Astrid became more angry at herself for being so blind. Did the gods hate her? She hadn't seen the deformed finger sneak out of the shadows, a hook now lay on Hiccup's shoulders. She only nodded in Hiccup's question. Thinking that if worse came to worse, Astrid decided to push the limits a bit. Who the hell was this ugly figure? She was about to find out.
" Who the hell are you?" she snarled, her axe instinctively poised to strike. The rage of an angry girl building inside of her. What made her different from most angry girls, well there was the axe and the supreme training she'd forced upon herself. Plus a nasty temper that would frighten the largest Monstrous Nightmare at the worst of times. "And a hook. Seriously, I mean, Gobber that's different, but..." she shook her head taking a step forward. Her blue eyes glared at Hiccup. What had he done without her knowing that would have gotten him on the bad side of... this. In her mind a hand was gesturing to all of the monstrosity. Hiccup had a lot of explaining to do.
"And how do you know Hiccup?" Another low, more curious snarl. Today was an over all bad day. This creep had made it official. All Astrid needed was another force trying to kill the scrawny kid. It was already her job to literally knock sense into him. "Damn you Hiccup. The subway was to easy wasn't it?" Even though she was rather pissed, a pit of fear was in her stomach. This creep already had the advantage. He was closer to Hiccup, he had the hook closer to Hiccup's throat than she had to his. She couldn't magically wave the axe in the air and make an arc over Hiccup's body and slice the man and to get out of the slums as fast as they could. She was blaming a few people for what was going on right now, mainly Hiccup and herself. Herself because, had she not yelled at Hiccup, she might've had a better chance taking down or getting away from the creep who had the red head at the throat. Hiccup because he'd had the bad luck to make enemies without even himself knowing.
She wasn't used to being so defenseless. She wasn't used to not being able to throw an axe and all her problems were solved. It always had to get more complicated than throwing a few rounds at a dragon trying to kill you (no she didn't hate dragons, nor did she regret Hiccup ending the war). Why, why, why, why, did it have to be Hiccup?! The thoughts repeatedly ran through her head, as she was forced to stay stalk still, a few paces from the two guys. Her jaw was clenched in silent seething.

Alvin's single eye wandered to Astrid and he carefully looked her over. Too tall to be Camicazi. What had happened to that little Bog-Burglar girl, and where was Fishlegs? Bringing up the rear, Alvin supposed. As he took in her questions, Alvin considered how he should respond. On the one hand, he could just slit Hiccup's throat and be done with it. However, that didn't seem like the best way to exact his revenge. After all that time, giving Hiccup a swift death didn't seem right. No, Alvin wanted to make Hiccup suffer for what he had brought upon him. The glorious part was that the young redhead didn't even remember him. The ultimate irony. He was meeting his long time adversary, and Hiccup didn't even know him.
"I am Alvin the Treacherous. Hiccup and I have... an interesting history, to say the least. He's caused far more trouble for me than he's even worth." Alvin hissed. He brought his hook threateningly close to Hiccup's throat and sneered as the boy squirmed beneath his grasp. Oh, if only their last meeting on Lava-Lout Island had been this easy. "As an assassin, I can't rightly let him live. Not after what he's done to me." Alvin said.
"Look, I don't even know what you're talking about. I don't know who you are! I didn't do anything to you!" Hiccup cried. He didn't have a clue as to who this Alvin character was. He'd never seen such a disgusting man in all his life, save for Gobber who did lack a hand and a foot. This man, from what Hiccup could make out from his peripheral vision, had definitely been through much worse than Gobber. He had to have been if he had to have a wooden wedge in place of his nose on top of an eye patch and a hook. ...And whatever else was wrong with him. The lack of eyebrows led Hiccup to believe that Alvin was entirely bald under that cloak.
Why me? Why can't I ever have something go right? Hiccup thought pitifully. Whatever the reason, it appeared his life was cursed. He had an assassin that seemed entirely convinced that he knew him right behind him with a hook dangerously close to his throat, a mission to complete, and the lingering chills going down his back from Alvin's initial greeting. How did this man know him? Was there some kind of alternate universe where he had become a hero the hard way and had done all the things he supposedly did to Alvin? That might have explained why Alvin apparently didn't know Astrid. He had only greeted Hiccup.
To his surprise, Alvin moved his hook just a tiny bit away from his neck. Now what?
"It would be much too easy if I were to kill you without giving you a chance to fight back, Hiccup." Alvin stated as he did, in fact, move his hook completely away from Hiccup and allowed the scrawny redhead to move back toward Astrid. It was at that point that Alvin revealed his sword. If he was going to kill Hiccup, he wanted a fair fight. "Draw your weapon, Hiccup. Let's see if you can still fight." he sneered.
Still fight?? Hiccup couldn't fight at all! He looked to Astrid with a sort of 'Please explain what's going on, because I have no idea' look while Alvin switched his hook for his sword. "I seriously have no idea what's going on. Does the world hate me?" Hiccup asked her quietly.

Alvin the Treacherous? It sounded like a viking name. Astrid looked over the hideously disgusting man as he released Hiccup. How did he now Hiccup? Hiccup didn't know him, Astrid didn't know him, so how could he now Hiccup? It seemed obvious though, that she was an unnamed variable in this sick experiment. She shot a glare at Hiccup, one that said, 'Great going you've made one enemy so far. One that you don't even know.' A little nagging sensation was at the back of her head, telling her that it was Hiccup that had mutilated the viking. But how could he? The only thing Hiccup could lift with ease was a hammer, a hammer that worked on metal and nothing more.
"You're a viking... where from?" she asked, he obviously wasn't from Berk. He couldn't be, she would have known him if he was...right? Relief washed over her as Hiccup was closer to her than the blade that had been revealed by Alvin. She couldn't underestimate him, not if he'd snuck past her senses. Astrid briefly wondered if they could make a run for it. The man wanted to fight Hiccup. If Hiccup didn't lack a leg as well, than the clumsy teen might've had an inkling of a chance of running away. But comparing both's running abilities, it would cut close if they decided to make a dash for it. Astrid on the other hand, didn't plan on making a dash for it. Her hands gripped more tightly on the handle of her axe. Sword against axe.
"Does it look like I know what's going on either? And I swear, it's either the gods hate you, and all that come into contact with you, or they can't even help your bad luck." she hissed under her breath, taking a step, protectively before Hiccup. "What does he mean, still fight? Is there something you're not telling me?" she accused, her eyes never leaving Alvin the Treacherous' form.
"Weapon? Hunting dagger against a sword? Are you crazy?" she barked. Hiccup's only weapon being that knife. The fairest fight she could see right now, was axe against sword. "And I swear to the gods, if you even try to touch him, you'll lose your remaining limbs." she snarled, taking half a step forward, unwilling to start circling Alvin and giving him a chance to go after Hiccup. Who was this creep after Hiccup? Why was there a creep after Hiccup? It was bad enough they wee in the slums, Hiccup had missed the subway, and they were far from help.
Wait. Wait a second. Your're Astrid. You don't need help. You can take this cretin. Great pep talk. Astrid cast a glance at Hiccup, icy orbs trying to convey the message: 'If you get the chance beat it out of here, and run like all hell is after you.' Knowing Hiccup, though, he'd either listen to her, or refuse to. Of course the greatest of viking qualities, the only one Hiccup seemed to inherit was their stubbornness. She couldn't say she'd have him any other way, just that sometimes, it got them into a lot of trouble. Than again sometimes it actually helped. Sometimes. Right now didn't seem to be the time.
Astrid sincerely hoped Hiccup would keep his dagger hidden, if it were to be brought out, the Alvin creep might accept the challenge. The gods only knew how bad that would be. Though with Hiccup, she guessed she really never could know what he was about to do.
Please don't be coming up with a suicidal plan. Please don't be coming up with a suicidal plan... The words repeated in her head. Hiccup wasn't that crazy right? She was counting on his fear to keep his mind at least a little hazy, and away from the stupid and crazy ideas that usually filled it.

Alvin decided to not make a move right away. They were still questioning him. It made sense. After all, he possessed a Viking title. They had a right to know some of his history. "If you must know, I was once the leader of the Outcast Tribe." Alvin replied. He didn't want to delve too deep into their history. If her goal was to keep him talking instead of fighting, it wasn't going to work. However, he had some desire to make it known that it had been Hiccup time and time again that had led him to being mutilated. Hiccup's fault he had been swallowed by a Strangulator, attacked by Sharkworms, and eaten by a Fire-Dragon. But Alvin didn't say a word about that. Not yet.
Hiccup had been smart enough to bring his dagger, but he was also smart enough to pretend he didn't have it with him. There was no way he was going to fight someone he didn't even know, especially with such an intimidating sword in place of his hook. How had he even done that? Was he like Gobber? Hiccup had seen Astrid looking his way, seeming to read what she was trying to tell him, and gave a little nod. If given the chance, he was going to make a break for it. Hiccup didn't want to leave Astrid behind, but he had a feeling she could handle herself against Alvin. She had handled herself against dragons. How much more difficult could it be to fight someone that lacked a hand, an eye, a nose, a leg, and... hair?
"Oh, yeah. I totally had time to train myself to use a sword while I was befriending Toothless. I totally have some idea of what this Alvin guy is talking about. ...AND A GRONCKLE ATE MY FACE. Of course I still have no idea how to fight!" Hiccup replied in a harsh whisper. "You know as well as I do that the only thing I've accomplished other than killing the Green Death is flying with Toothless." he said, though he had said it a bit louder than he would have liked. That last part seemed to have gotten Alvin's attention. The mutilated former leader of the Outcast Vikings raised a nonexistent eyebrow as his single eye widened.
"Flying? With that little, green winged newt?" Alvin asked. It couldn't be the same Toothless, could it? Not that little Common or Garden dragon that always was with Hiccup. It couldn't be. That puny dragon couldn't lift a human. His desire to kill Hiccup died down momentarily. How different were things now?

Astrid's head was buzzing. What in the name of Thor was going on here? Outcast tribe? What? This strange encounter kept getting weirder and weirder. Her body was still tensed, like a cat about to pounce. She didn't trust Alvin for a second. With a name like 'Alvin the Treacherous, how could she? She wouldn't let the viking wannabee get past her at the nearly defenseless Hiccup. She actually wished that the nightfury was there to get Hiccup the hell out of there as well as scare the living daylights out of the viking. Than all of them could part ways as confused... teenagers?
Astrid tried not to visibly relax as Hiccup got her message. He trusted she could hold her own as well as defend his back. Looking at Alvin, Astrid could almost see handsome features that once were, had this rouge viking actually not gone into situations that had taken away noise, eye sight, leg, etc, he would have been a handsome figure. Now, he was mutilated, missing limbs and senses and one of a vikings most prized features: hair.
"Don't blame me!!" the blonde hissed back, " I don't know what you've been up to 24/7!!" Her eyes slid to the corners as she glared at Hiccup. "Oh yeah, I can expect you to kill the Green Death, tame a Nigh Fury, fly," she hesitated and decided it wasn't the right place to mention the first flight she'd had on Toothless. "But Nooooo when it comes to sword fighting you had no time! Don't make me have to kill both of you." She glared between both vikings, as if seriously tempted. What a great time to argue. When both were being threatened by a seriously mutilated, out for blood assassin. Her attention turned to Alvin, little green winged newt? What the hell was he talking about?
"Toothless? A newt? Yeah, a seriously large newt!" she snarled back, to oblivious with rage to consider what he'd assumed Toothless to be. "He's not some Terrible Terror!" While Alvin's blood lust died down momentarily, Astrid's rage only seemed to increase with a burning passion. Probably because of the confusion that was starting to give her a serious head ache.
"What the hell is going on here? Someone PLEASE explain to me why this guy, "she gestured to Alvin, "thinks that Toothless is a tiny, green winged newt?" she looked over to Hiccup and Alvin. Her words more of a challenge than an actual question. Astrid didn't know much about Toothless, but she did know that he wasn't tiny, was black, and was strong enough to lift both Hiccup and herself, fully armored onto a long flight.

"Oh, I don't know. Probably because the last time I saw him, Toothless, and Fishlegs, I saw a tiny green dragon that was about as useful as tap dancing one's way out of an Exterminator dragon's nest!" Alvin felt his own rage starting to build up. Not even he understood what was going on anymore. Hiccup had to be the only one that had changed, right? It wasn't all of the Viking Archipelago that had changed, right? What was a Terrible Terror? Things suddenly had taken a much more confusing turn. Toothless couldn't have changed. ...Then again, maybe things really had changed more than he had been aware of after escaping the Fire-Dragon.
Alvin gave a sigh at last. His desire to kill was slowly coming back to him, if only to end the confusion. ...He would try one last thing to jog Hiccup's memory. If it was even possible to do so. "You can still speak Dragonese, can't you?" Alvin asked with a cold sort of tone. He really didn't care if Hiccup could or not. It was just one last test he was doing before he would go in for a first blow against either of the two teens.
"Uh..." Hiccup had no idea how to answer. Things were getting much too confusing. Last he had checked, Toothless was quite large and black. Not small and green. "Sorry, but the last time I checked Toothless was a Night Fury. And..." Hiccup thought for a moment. Since when could anyone speak the language of dragons? Hiccup honestly had no idea what Alvin was even talking about anymore. All he wanted to do was find the subway and go back to the agency with Astrid. "...Can't say that I've ever been able to communicate verbally with a dragon." he finally said.
Talking. It might might buy them more time. If they could just keep Alvin talking maybe they could keep him from attacking them. "I know it's confusing, but maybe if we can keep this guy talking we can get out of here without a fight." he whispered. Probably an insane idea, but at least it didn't involve him doing something suicidal in the process.

An exterminator dragon? What? And Fishlegs? The tubby teen? Dear gods Astrid was confused. And now Hiccup speaking dragonese? Not even Hiccup could speak to dragons verbally! The guys was off his rocker, flew to high in the sky. She cast a cautious look to Hiccup. This guys was a complete loon. "An...exterminator dragon?" she looked to Hiccup. ' There's moore?' she seemed to ask. Astrid's mind was on the same track as Hiccup. She just wanted to get out of here, but she wouldn't avoid a fight if it came to it.
"Keep him talking?" she hissed back, the idea rolling in her mind. "Crazy, but not bad..." Her eyes suddenly lit up. What if they could confuse him?? "Hiccup!! Talk about you! About Berk! Stoick, Snotlout, Tuffnut," Did anyone else notice one name left out? Nah, probably not. "Anything! Something that'll catch him off guard!" Astrid whispered, her words rushed with enthusiasm. Her head that had moved half an inch to the side to talk to Hiccup, whipped to face forward at Alvin again.
"I don't think we've been introduced." Astrid sneered, "I'm Astrid. Hiccup's," Her eyes looked at Hiccup from the side, tempted to wink. Had Snotlout been there, she would've probably laughed. "Girlfriend..." Maybe it was enough to shock Alvin so that Hiccup had time to think of words. Maybe it would spark a fuse in Hiccup's mind that would get him talking? It was better than any of Hiccup's extremely suicidal plans by any rate.
On another hand, Astrid was intrigued, what did this Alvin know that they didn't? Was the Hiccup he new that much different? Able to sword fight and speak with dragons? And, dare she think it? Did the... 'other' Hiccup also have a girlfriend. Jealousy comes at the weirdest times. Astrid could just as easily be starting to defend both her and Hiccup's lives, yet all she could think of as the 'other' Hiccup Alvin seemed to know. The Hiccup behind her was evidently 'her' Hiccup, not the one Alvin seemed to know. Unless Hiccup had gained severe memory loss and gone on some wild adventure no one else seemed to know about, it was unlikely Alvin and Astrid new the same Hiccup. It was a hard topic to wrap one's head around.
"And we're from Berk, where there is no 'outcast' tribe. I've actually never heard of you, or the tribe you supposedly lead." she continued to talk, though she refused to relax from her fighting stance. Lean muscles tensed and read to spring. Hair on the back of her neck still standing on end, while her legs bounced only slightly, coiling and tensing, and untensing. She was still on edge and suspicious. Typical Astrid behavior.

Hiccup searched his mind, trying to remember if he had read anything about an Exterminator dragon, but came up with nothing. Maybe there really were more dragons than the ones listed in the dragon book. "Apparently there are more dragons out there." he finally murmured in response to Astrid's unasked question in regards to there being more dragon species. His mind did spark with new ideas when Astrid started to list off things they knew about 'their' Berk. "Y-Yeah, that's right! I've never heard of any Outcast tribe, or any Alvin the Treacherous. As for sword fighting? Please, I'm the most twiggy Viking you'll ever come across in Berk." Hiccup began. "I can't even lift a sword, much less use one." he stated. ...What else could he talk about? What did Alvin apparently know about him that he could prove wasn't true?
"I've never been able to communicate with dragons. Oh, and see this?" Hiccup pointed to his prosthetic, which Alvin did look at in that particular moment. "I lost my leg fighting a massive dragon we call the Green Death."
"I thought you said you couldn't fight." Alvin said. He was growing more confused. The last time he had seen Hiccup, he didn't have a girlfriend. The only female friend he evidently had was Camicazi, and she apparently wasn't there. "And I don't believe I've ever met anyone named Astrid." he continued.
"I only said I couldn't fight because it's true. Toothless did all the fighting. I'm his rider, you see. He's a massive dragon known as a Night Fury, and my best friend. ...Oh! And Fishlegs and I aren't even that close. We're just acquaintances." Hiccup felt much more confident now that he was talking up a storm. Alvin seemed to be growing more confused and less inclined to strike him dead. That was good. The talking strategy was working. "In fact, I was the first person in the history of Berk to even tame a dragon. Before I met Toothless, everyone just thought dragons were pests." Hiccup stated.
That certainly appeared to catch Alvin off guard. Alvin blinked a couple of times as he tried to process all the information he was given. None of it made sense. As far as he could remember, Fishlegs was Hiccup's best friend. Dragon training was a very common thing to do in the Viking Archipelago, at least as far as Alvin could remember. Every Viking tribe had their hunting dragons and their riding dragons. Was that not how it was in Hiccup's... world? Then a smile formed on Alvin's face. A sinister sort of smile. If they could try to confuse them, he could too.
"So, you've no recollection of fighting me in your ancestor Grimbeard the Ghastly's treasure trove? No recollection of the time I had you kidnapped by Romans? No recollection of Lava-Lout Island? Not even an inkling of... Camicazi?" Alvin asked. His smile had turned from sinister to devious in a matter of seconds. Camicazi was Hiccup's female friend in 'his' world. That ought to be enough to get under Astrid's skin.
Hiccup stared dumbfoundedly as the new series of questions was brought his way. He surely would have remembered being captured by Romans, fighting in a treasure trove, something about an island, and someone named Camicazi. As it was, Hiccup was back to not having a clue. He looked to Astrid, confusion evident in his emerald eyes, and then back to Alvin. This was all getting too confusing. Were there two separate Hiccups running around? One that Alvin knew and him? If that was the case, where was the other Hiccup?
Probably back home enjoying dinner or something. Or off on some grand adventure.

Toothless had given up on the subway. The Night Fury first of all, doubted he could actually fit in there, and second, didn't see Hiccup ever emerge from the subway. Just great. The massive black dragon had to take another approach. Searching for the viking teen on foot. Toothless had to think a bit on other routes Hiccup could have taken, even considered returning to the agency. But one route just begged him to see if Hiccup were there.
Luckily, the ebony scaled fire-breathing beast had been right. The slums. How odd it was, to be out of Berk, away from anyone of his own kind, away from grass. Now he walked upon pavement, probably blending in with the road. These place gave even the Night Fury chills. After running across as fast as he could, he finally got to good hearing range of Hiccup. Astrid had accompanied him too! Momentarily, the dragon was overjoyed. Until the beast realized he was missing a piece of the puzzle.
Who- or what was with them? Ear-like appendages flickered as if to recall that he had known that voice before. Nope. Not a single memory entered his mind. One eye twitched. What if this was an assassin? Toothless probably would have heard Hiccup's screams earlier. He couldn't have been in serious trouble. But when endless possibilities began to fill the dragon's head, he bolted to where Hiccup, Astrid, and Alvin were, skidding to a halt while his eyes became slits, staring at Alvin.
How... odd he looked. Had Toothless not felt threatened, he'd probably stare at him like a dog would, with his head cocked to the side. But he did feel threatened by him and his... strangeness.

Astrid would be lying if she said she wasn't enjoying the creep's confusion. Because, well, it meant he had a weakness. It meant that there was a chance that the Hiccup he wanted wasn't her Hiccup. She only smiled in response as Hiccup continued to babble on, adding in an occasional nod or so. And than Alvin said that he didn't know an Astrid. He knew a Fishlegs, a Toothless, and a Hiccup, granted they appeared not to have the same personalities or... relationships. A tiny pain of jealousy or pain gripped her. She wasn't in that alternate world with Hiccup, Fishlegs and Toothless. That meant she wasn't with Hiccup, which left the window open for other girls. Even though she knew this Hiccup wasn't here Hiccup, it was odd to think that there was a second Hiccup out there, but not a second Astrid with that Hiccup. If that made any sense. That Hiccup had been great friends with Fishlegs and appeared to have more skills than being a blacksmith or riding dragons. But... it was all so much to take in.
And than Alvin went on the defense, leaving poor Astrid in the dust of confusion. He'd had h- a Hiccup stolen?? That was the first straw that set Astrid's temper rising, her cheeks starting to gain a furious flush. The second was the mention of a Camicazi. By the way Alvin's smile shifted, the way he held his words, Camicazi must be a girl. A girl Hiccup new. Maybe not this Hiccup... Was that a green eyes monster growing inside the blonde? Astrid wished the other Hiccup was around, if only to straighten out these confusions, to fight Alvin as that Hiccup seemed to have a handiwork with a blade.
And than a black figure came beside her and Toothless. This time, she visibly relaxed. "Hey, Alvin, does this look like a tiny, green winged newt to you?" Her smile shifted to a dangerous smirk, taking a half step closer to Alvin. Her eyes glanced to Toothless, icy orbs conveying how glad she was for the dragon to show up. Things were about to get either very interesting, or very funny.
Astrid though, filed away what had been revealed by Alvin, determined to confront Hiccup about it. There had been a little green monster inside the girl, but for now, with such a posed danger at hand, she had to shove it in a box and hold down the lid for atleast a little while. Thank the gods Toothless had showed up, it meant that they could save some time scaring off the deformed cretin. Astrid could have laughed at Toothless's expression. She guessed he'd never seen anything so... strange as to compare with the viking wannabee. Well, neither had Astrid.
The Alvin character had, in truth, dug himself deep under Astrid's skin. She felt the muscles in her arm that held the axe twitching continuously, ready to start the throwing or swinging motion Astrid was so eager to use. To bad, for now, it'd have to wait. Oh how the blonde wanted to add to the creep's missing collection of limbs. Starting off with another missing hand so the creep would never be able to change the ugly stub from weapon to hook, to egg beater of whatever he used.

While Hiccup looked immensely relieved to see Toothless, his Toothless, arrive, Alvin looked as if he had seen a ghost. His single eye grew much wider than Hiccup ever though imaginable and he involuntarily took a couple of shaken steps back. What... what was that?! That was no Common or Garden Dragon! "Wha... what... what is that?" Alvin asked as he pointed the Stormblade, his sword, in Toothless' direction. That dragon was massive! Nothing like the sea dragons or even the Strangulator, but it was still something. In all honesty, Alvin had partially lost his resolve just for the sheer fact that he was so stunned by what he was seeing.
Hiccup regained his own resolve, cockiness flowing through him in that moment. This was his best friend there to help them. Oh, if only the 'other' Toothless could see his friend right then and there. In fact, Hiccup almost wished this other Toothless was present just to see what he looked like. "Why, Alvin, didn't you know? This is Toothless." Hiccup replied.
All at once, a mixture of emotions went through Alvin's mind. Fascination at the fact that a Night Fury, a dragon he had never heard of before, was right in front of him. Fear of what this dragon could do to him. Anger at the fact that this Hiccup was getting to him through simply talking. Confusion that he had initially wanted to rain down on Hiccup and this not Camicazi. Eventually, though, blood lust set in. Whether or not it was 'his' Hiccup, Alvin knew that this was still Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. He could still kill him regardless of the fact that it wasn't his arch nemesis. It would still be satisfying to spill blood.
Now hang on, Alvin. Is it worth it to kill him in front of this dragon?
An interesting question indeed. Alvin didn't know what this Night Fury could do. For all he knew, this Toothless could have been supremely powerful. He must have been if he was that big. But... the desire to just injure Hiccup won out in the end. "Enough of this nonsense!" It was a rather unexpected move in the heat of the confusion, he would admit, but just seeing the shocked look on Hiccup's face as he moved past Astrid and finally struck out the Stormblade to injure the redhead was worth it. A fresh, deep cut appeared across Hiccup's chest, and after a moment the redhead fell to the ground and just lay there in pain, wondering what the hell had just happened. Blood stained Alvin's sword, and a sadistic sort of look formed on his face.
He hadn't killed Hiccup, that much he could tell from the sheer fact that he was still breathing, but he had made the first move. It was as if he was saying 'What now, girl? What you going to do?' in a smug sort of way.
(ooc: Sorry, couldn't resist. Had to have Hiccup sustain at least one injury in this thread. ^^; )

Astrid almost felt the cockiness forming. And than Alvin moved quickly, faster than expected. Fast enough to know that Hiccup wouldn't have a chance in hell running from Alvin. Not now. The fire in her eyes turned to lightning, blazing madly in her eyes. It wasn't just that the man had slipped her grip once more, it was the rage that had built in his words. Picturing the face of this 'Camicazi' Astrid swung with her axe. A mad cry rang from her lungs, as she stepped back from Hiccup's fallen form, and swung in and arch, careful so that the blade would reach neither Toothless or Hiccup. Her eyes were frozen sapphire, blazing with the reflection of a storm.
She swung the blade numerous times, the full force of her hanger in the axes handle, the blade merely following. Much like when swinging a bat, you don't swing the tip of it, you force the handle down, throw your hands at your target, and the rest of it follows. Just imagine that, with an extremely sharp axe with two extremely sharp sides. Astrid wanted to wipe the smug look off of Alvin's face by any means necessary. Hiccup was the creep's target, well Astrid was going to be the wall barring him from it. Her axe glided through the air, leaving 'fwoosh' sound in the air behind it.
For good measure, Astrid forced in a few kicks, if only to force Alvin away from the scrawny teen. "Coward!" she snickered, her nose scrunching up in a snarl. "This isn't your Hiccup, this is mi- our Hiccup!" Astrid added in, remembering Toothless's best interests as well. The dragon would no doubt be pissed his rider had been injured, let alone his best friend had been injured. Oh no, Alvin would now now the true fury of both a Night Fury, and a very, very pissed off girlfriend.
Astrid couldn't help but feel a small giddiness as she finally got the chance to try and add to Alvin's mutilated body. She was angry, furious. Taking out her anger on Alvin seemed to be a good reliever. She'd let him slip by her twice, she'd let him hurt Hiccup, she'd let him confuse her, get the best of her. Now, outmatched by both dragon and girl, Astrid wanted to show just how revenge worked. When people say revenge is a dish best served cold, Astrid hoped they meant by cold fury, heated by blind rage. Contrasting, but working rather effectively, if only rather recklessly together.
"Toothless," Astrid gasped through the concentration of her relentless, swinging blade, "meet Alvin. Alvin, meet Toothless. Toothless is probably rather angry. Toothless blows fire." She didn't know what dragons in Alvin's world did, but she was sure it was no match for Toothless's furious blue balls of flames, nor his sharp teeth and claws. She was glad that the dragons were on the vikings side, they were no 'modern' technology. They were a hell of a lot better.
(ooc: No problem ^w^ And so the fight begins!! >83 )
