A casual shrug was Soul's first response. He hadn't ever really considered just how badass anyone else from the DWMA was before then. "The others were okay, I guess. Some of the guys were kind of goofballs, and this one guy had this thing about symmetry, but other than that... I can't say I recall any badasses or other guys with much charm." Soul replied. At least he hadn't mentioned anyone by name. "I had my group of friends that I hung out with, but I had to leave them behind to come here. Not that I mind, of course. I don't think they'd be up to snuff around here." he smirked.
You know that's not true. Black*Star, Maka, Tsubaki, Kid, Liz, and Patty could have easily fit in. Black*Star a bit less than the others since he is admittedly a goofball, but still! came his inner voice. Soul ignored it once again. He hated having to hide that he wasn't truly an assassin. Not by his own choice, at least.
"Come to think of it, I don't think you've ever said much about where you came from Miyuki." Soul said in a sort of offhanded manner. After all, he had gotten a bit into his own background. It seemed only fair.

Miyuki snorted irritably. "What's there to talk about? I lived over in Japan and went to a low-class high school in place of an upper-class all-girls' school for three years. I put up a guise of an adorable clumsy rich-girl that whole time, and let me tell you, it took a hell of a toll on what little sanity I have. There were these three girls who made up my little circle of friends and honestly, I think they are the oddest, most retarded three girls on the planet. I'd rather not talk about them-- the thought of that place tends to give me indigestion." She moaned and buried her face in her hands. "Frustrating would be an understatement. I'm going to need some serious tylenol when I get back to the dorms."

Vitani wasn't sure whether she should be offended or amused by the girl's reaction to her, but either way, she couldn't help but smirk, and even rolled her eyes. No comment was offered, however, as she just tore of another large chunk of meat instead and chewed it casually while she listened to the conversation between Soul and the girl. Of course, never having met any humans before arriving at the agency - the Pridelands were, mercifully, free of them - , the lioness had no way of knowing that most humans would expect not to understand her.
"I suppose you want to know a bit about where I come from, too?" she offered when the conversation seemed to lull. Vitani wouldn't say much about herself, of course, even if asked - mostly, she'd 'put the past behind her', as the king liked to say - , but she saw no harm in mentioning a few basics.

"Sounds like you had to put up with quite a bit of nonsense before coming here." Soul observed as Miyuki finished her explanation. He would have hated to be in a situation like that. Fortunately, the most he had had to put up with was Black*Star. Even then, it hadn't been all that bad since they had been best friends. At last remembering Vitani was present as well, the white-haired boy nodded slowly in response to her question. He was very interested in hearing the lioness' story. "I certainly wouldn't mind hearing more about you. It'd give me something more to go of off other than your being the 'new kid'." Soul replied.

Vitani extened her forelegs in a casual stretch momentarily, before tearing off another chunk of steak and beginning. "Basically, I was trained as an assassin from birth by my mother. We had been wrongfully cast out of the lands her mate had used to rule, so she would train me for the day we would take them back. My two brothers were the only friends I ever had." And Nuka's dead a niggling voice at the back of her subconciousness reminded her, prompting the lioness' lips to part in a hastily-concealed grimace.
Hoping her new companions hadn't noticed her momentary weakness, Vitani continued. "After that battle and mother's death, there wasn't a lot for a fighter like me to do around Pride Rock, so I came here."

Wow. Great stories. Dan thought in a rather sarcastic manner, eating his sandwich like an animal. I can't tell who has the worse stories, these people, or Chris. Nah, Chris still takes the cake. Speaking of cake, he's probably shoving some in his face and watching some stupid show at the moment.
It appeared that nobody had noticed Dan. What a shame. He'd probably have to put them on the list. He shoved his turkey sandwich in his mouth, chomping and chewing rather loudly in an attempt to be noticed and annoying. What can you expect with a guy that has JERK literally written on his shirt though?

Vitani's explanation sounded reasonable. After all, what else could a fighter do but keep doing what they had been taught? "Sounds like you came to the right place then." Soul said. He was curious to know if she had anyone targeted yet, but given her status as a new assassin that probably wasn't likely.
Crimson gaze turned to Dan as he made an attempt at being noticed. Are you going to put up with that? the voice inside his head asked. Well, he couldn't just take that attempt at being noticed without saying something about it. "Hey. If you've got something to say, guy, then say it." Soul stated bluntly.

"One, don't call me 'guy', I'm Dan." Dan had nearly yelled at Soul. It seemed like this place was becoming more like what Dan was used to. "Second, I'm rather enjoying my turkey sandwich that lacks cheese. Not as good as this one place I know that almost was taken over. I got a bunch of people to demolish that place and take it over, like how I extracted my vengeance upon Canada with a glacier. I deserve this sandwich, thank you very much!"
That got a few things off Dan's plate. So tired of listening to everyone's stories when his had so much more excitement, like shooting the wolfman, or blowing up a car sale, or that one time where he had an imposter living around his house, or his prison stories. But they were interesting. At least, to him they were.

"Ah, sheesh." Vitani mumbled, returning her attention to the bloody steak. This guy was already proving more of an irritant than Nuka on a bad day - and that was saying something, because when Nuka had a bad day, he could be a right pain in the rear.
Or at least, used to have been... a wave of grief threatened to choke her, and Vitani scowled. If she hoped to become a good assassin here, she would have to learn how to fight off the despair she always seemed to feel whenever she thought about her dead brother. Any decent assassin wouldn't let an emotion like this bother them - why was it affecting her so much?
Blood splattered across the table as she viciously tore another large chunk off the steak. Vitani's jaw worked angrily as she chewed, half of the piece of meat still dangling out of her mouth. Anger at herself, for allowing such weakness to hinder her.
But how could she learn to ignore it?
